The EcG was negative, and shortly after the scanning-lady told me this, I suddenly felt a lot better. She was a little embarassed, and apologised for not being able to give me a positive result for pericardial effusion. We laughed, I went home, and procrastinated.
In the meantime, things happened. In a masterful peice of scheming and brazen powergrabbing (to say nothing of the fact that putting this guy anywhere near oil, or money, or power full stop is a jawdroppingly stupid idea) Achmed Chalabi was appointed Iraqi Oil Minister.
Chernobyl's core was noticed glowing through the cracks. Dr Yablokov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences reports that experts had "seen a luminescence characteristic of chain reactions inside the giant building", adding: "Who could predict what might happen if hundreds of thousands of tons of concrete, which was hastily poured 19 years ago, tumbled down on the ruined nuclear reactor?".
In more local news, a NSW Central Coast family finally pulled down their big, joyous, flapping National Socialist German Worker's Party flag (the mother claimed she didn't know what the flag meant and was just flying it because her four month old baby liked the colours. Lying through her teeth or just plain thick? You decide).
And then there's these clowns, who really, really, really shoulda known better. At this point it looks like they're going up against the wall. In a brilliantly handled sting operation the Indonesian police have managed to net nine stupid mules, miss the heroin delivery and shoot their only lead (so far) to anyone higher up. Waw Bagus, Polisi!

Good to hear about the EcG. Let's hope that's the last we see of your chest problems. Maybe it's because you're such a loving, caring individual, or something.
And yeah, the "Bali nine" can't say they didn't know what they were getting into. I'm not sure that the death penalty shoul apply to drug smuggling in general, but that's a separate issue. Everyone knows that drug-running in SE Asia is generally punishable by death, so they knew the risk they were taking. Looks like they lucked out.
Indonesian police? Incompetent? Well I never.
