PoE provides a invaluable service, uncovering the unknowably insane gibbering void of bugfuck reality-disconnect crazy created when global internet access collides with the beautiful ever-fragile spectrum of human delusions and paranoia. Contains a healthy and vibrant (read highly offensive) forum, with some of the funniest posters EVAR. ( some stuff NSFW. duh).
Riverbend - A truly kick-arse blog, made by IRAQ'S SEXIEST BLOGGER, riverbend, who posts whenever the generator is working. Real day to day no-bullshit social/political commentary and other random insights. Highly readable and actually relevant. (cry).
Juan Cole
While we're one the whole Iraq thing, you can't go past Juan Cole. Professor of History at the Uni. of Michigan, the dude lived in Beirut in the Eighties, translates and summarises Arabic newspapers in his spare time while swinging from chandeliers and engaging in other such feats of derring-do against mindless neocon pundits. Like his title says: 'Informed Comment'. He knows his Iraq/Middle East.
